Four years ago, my renewal application was also approved overnight by the Chicago Center. My APEC card was also approved overnight by Chicago overnight.
I just submitted my renewal GE application two days ago. I shall see how long it's going to take this time. It looks that you are based in Chicago. I wonder if Chicago's processing time is now much longer than my past experience.
Hmm. I just always sort of assumed that the renewal applications just all went to some central processing facility somewhere. The last time I had to renew I lucked out as they had opened a satellite interview facility just west of the Loop, a five minute walk from where I lived. I was in and out in under 5 minutes.
