At least at some times of the year, there is an early evening departure (c. 5-6 pm) from MIA to PLS. Not sure if it works for Saturdays or not or if it works in the fall, but in the winter at least on some days there is something like a 7-8am LAX-departing route for LAX-MIA-PLS that works for same-day travel from SoCal to PLS.
