A few problems with that:
a) Square (at least the chip reader version)
is a terminal, albeit one with no PIN pad.
b) Many sit down restaurants still take your card away and swipe it on their POS. Presumably many of those will correctly trigger the 4x.
To me it seems more productive to avoid Square in particular rather than everything that doesn't have a PIN pad.
