For those who want to learn more about what's been happening between the shutdown and now, there is an active page on FaceBook that has been keeping up with the progress along with updates from the former staff who many repeat visitors regarded as "ohana" (family).

I first heard of this resort in 2000 when my wife and I were flying to KOA for a stay at a lesser known condo. I was seated next to a business man & his family from San Francisco area, and their au pair, and they were looking forward to a stay at KHV. I asked if they were going to rent a car and see some of the island's sights. He said, no, they were just going to chill at the resort. I thought to myself "how boring" but to each his own. Sounds like a wonderful resort.
