Mexico places and photographs of note

I came across this photograph by Victor Castañon of Popocatépetl volcano as seen from its neighbor volcano, Ixtaccíhuatl. Yes, they’re snowcapped year ‘round. Unfortunately, Popo no longer has glaciers, and Ixta’s are greatly diminished, in this century.

Popocatépetl: 5,426 m / 17,802 ft, “El Popo” is 70 km / 43 mi southeast
(second highest peak in Mexico, after Citlaltépetl (Pico de Orizaba) at 5,636 m / 18,491 ft - active, has caused seismic activity and last erupted 20 Dec 2018, a minor eruption. Name means “smoking mountain” in Nahuatl.)

Ixtaccihuatl: 5,230 m / 17,160 ft, 70 km / 43 mi southeast of CDMX (third highest peak in Mexico, dormant. Name means “sleeping woman” in Nahuatl.)

(On clear days they can be seen from CDMX and from my home town Cuernavaca. At sunrise from my home we could see “El Popo” as depicted in the second photograph. Cuernavaca, derived from Cuauhnahuac, “by the trees” in Nahuatl, nothing to do with horns of the cow or any Spanish name at all.)
