Renting cars in Chile

Will be renting cars in Chile very soon. I like to know the policy on the second driver. Some states in the US allow second person to drive for free. Some only allow spouse or co-workers to drive for free. What is the situation in Chile? Is it different from region to region? I will be renting in Santiago and Puerto Natales.
