I’ve done this for my wife multiple times and never had it declined. I’ve usually explained that the FA booked on separate PNRs or that had to book separately on different PNRs for reimbursement purposes and it’s never been a problem. Now she is my Elite Partner it shouldn’t be necessary as she is entitled to HVC seating in her own right.
