Angsana Xi'an Lintong: Review

Location The hotel is located in Xi’an’s Lintong district, about a 20 minute drive from the terracotta warriors, making it ideal for a one-night stay to see this attraction. The hotel is about 500 meters uphill from the nearby main road, which features an outlet shopping district and an under-construction metro station.Getting a Didi (Chinese Uber) to or from the hotel was simple, we never waited more than two minutes for a car. On one occasion when we booted up the app to get a car, there were about six cars waiting outside the hotel entrance. Check In Check in was efficient and we were provided with some hot tea while check in was being processed. The member of staff (I believe a manager) spoke very good English. We were informed that we had received a room upgrade and were given our welcome drink voucher. Due to the size of the property, a member of staff escorted us to our room, explaining in good English about the facilities and restaurants of the hotel. Room We received a one category upgrade from an Imperial Room to a Royal Suite. A small bowl of fruit was the welcome gift, but another small plate of pears was later provided with the turn down service. The room is furnished in an ancient Chinese style. This hotel is not shy about providing waters; there were six bottles on the bench and another two in the bathroom. The small working desk is located in the entranceway. The living room features a sofa and chair with coffee table and wall-mounted television. The TV is mounted with an extendable arm that allows access to the input ports on the TV. There is a balcony with sofa and a table with two chairs. The balcony overlooks the central courtyard. The drapes and shade are electronically controlled. The bedroom features a very comfortable bed. Only one side of the bed had an available power point. The bedroom also has a balcony but this one is without furniture. I was unable to find a pillow menu, but there were soft and firmer pillows provided. The TV in the bedroom also has an extendable arm, allowing access to inputs. The room has two bathrooms. The guest bathroom is located next to the entrance and has a toilet and sink. The main bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a retractable wooden door (with holes in it) and a curtain that can be drawn for privacy. It has a massive bath in the middle of the room, two sinks with plenty of bench space and a small bench so you can sit in front of the mirror and do your makeup. The shower was interesting – it was clearly designed with having multiple people showering simultaneously in mind! The closet is also located in the bathroom. Toiletry bags are provided with single-use items in them, and the bags can be taken as souvenirs free of charge. Wi-Fi speeds were decent during the day but almost stopped overnight, which was odd. Service This hotel stood out because the level of service was fantastic. I have only experienced such service on a very small number of occasions at Accor properties. Most members of staff spoke a very decent level of English. I believe I was likely the first Accor Plus member to stay at the property since they started participating in the program late 2018, and possibly the first Le Club member. At first, there was some confusion with the food and beverage staff about the Accor Plus card, because they had been told to only accept physical cards and not the digital card that is in the Accor app, however the staff very promptly sought clarification from their managers. The gentleman at the front desk, who was obviously the most trained on the program, quickly contacted each of the restaurant outlets on our behalf to inform them to accept our digital card. The restaurant manager also provided fantastic service when we dined for dinner. Dining The property does not have a lounge, so the platinum-inclusive breakfast is provided in the main restaurant, which has a very good spread of food. We had dinner in the Japanese restaurant and the food was very good, with great service provided by the restaurant manager. The 50% food discount was provided prior to taxes, but I did not question this as the difference was not too substantial. Welcome drink vouchers could only be redeemed for soft drink and juice.
