It does connect well with the before-noon bank of flights to Europe (well, departures anyway) and North America. It can’t connect with the afternoon bank of flights due to aircraft utilization and the fact that it would make for a very late arrival to and departure from PER.
NRT doesn’t support the kind of late night flights to Europe and North America that CX can do out of their HKG hub due to curfew restrictions. Also I assume ANA also wants to support some domestic connections as well, precluding a NRT departure that is too early or late.
