Is it excessively difficult for a new carrier to get certified to operate in Canada? All of the U.S. legacies are there, plus a few smaller players, so it doesn't seem infeasible for WN to do it. It's one of the few places I can think of where there is still ample pricing room for a true "Southwest effect" - bringing down crazy-high fares and still very profitable for WN.
Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg could all use Southwest. If they decided to fly into Fort McMurray, They could probably fill planes with direct flights out of Houston!
