I have an itinerary LON-ICN-HKG-PVG-LHR with a few days in ICN and HKG. As far as I understand and concentrating solely on HKG-PVG-LHR segments, is that I can use the 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in PVG. Using this method, I just need to let the airline know when boarding at HKG (preparing myself for potential push back from those who may not know the 114-hour visa-free transit rules).
Flying out of HKG very low chance of any "push back", as unlike in the US, at HKG (and elsewhere in the region) the airport staff are better trained and know about the China TWOV. IMO this should be worry-free completely..
