Definitely read the GS thread on recent experiences and benefits. Priority handling and boarding, better IRROPS handling, better phone service (usually), and special entrances to skip all lines at hubs like IAH and ORD and EWR with GS entrance points that literally let out to the front of the security liines (and with GE/Precheck) even faster processing normally, and special mileage inventory available also, just to name a few.
