I had similar problem with YVR BA Galleries (entering as CX J, probably they don't get a lot of people like me who don't want to use their own lounge instead). The gate dragon even opened a binder of training materials, I pointed to the oneworld international Business entry.
I am very surprised that CX turned lorkers away when the departing flight is on CX! In any case, I would cite https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_....html?switch=Y as this one is more direct for CX lounge staff and doesn't even mention capacity restriction.
