wingless' TSA Luggage Padlock

Back in the good old days it was acceptable for the passenger to lock checked luggage when travelling by air. I still have some of those old locks sitting in a drawer somewhere.

Now we're relegated to handing over unlocked luggage or to using the TSA padlock. I have started using those three digit TSA padlocks.

Yes, they are flimsy. Yes, they may be opened by anyone who purchases or creates the TSA keys.

IMO, these are the best option for current times. During a recent trip one of those locks disappeared, all contents intact and no TSA inspection tag inside. In other instances the tumblers have been rotated, also no internal TSA tag.
