I’ve just seen this from another source and it is mentioned in the new destinations thread, but I think it is a great shame. I live a fast 15 min drive (20 if being sensible) from SOU and leaving home an hour before departure always felt very daring. My sister used to commute from SOU and I think her record was leaving home 30/35 mins before departure and still making the flight.

KL via AMS was a great one-stop gateway to the world, with the start and end in a very small and homely airport. I remember as a child moving back to the UK in 1995 from the Middle East and flying via AMS. At that time SOU had a wooden shack style passport control area. How long have KL been flying from SOU?
