In situations where AA requires two awards, will they be combined into one ticket?

For example inter island Hawaii flights on Hawaiian can’t be added on to an award booking between the mainland and Hawaii. If you need to book LIH-HNL-DFW (no stopover) that requires two separate awards.

Will AA combine those two awards into one ticket or are they separate tickets?
