Not a lot to add to previous replies so I won't. But I am curious if there was a reason you didn't originally book the trip starting in London (connecting to the same ams bkk flight). The way airlines price is that a connecting flight is very often cheaper. Wasn't that the case for you, or did your plans change, or didn't you consider that option?
