Reports of Virgin selling to Ansett 'absolute bollocks': Branson
Virgin Blue is denying reports the Ansett consortium Tesna is poised to buy the low fare carrier.
Melbourne's The Age newspaper claims businessmen Solomon Lew and Lindsay Fox are believed to be considering a takeover after a meeting with Sir Richard Branson in London.
Virgin Blue's David Huttner has confirmed the two parties will have another meeting this week, but he says Sir Richard is certainly not selling the company.
"We spoken to Richard this morning to reconfirm and his comment was the story is absolute bollocks.
"Obviously someone has tried to take The Age for a bit of a ride.
"The last time somebody thought they were going to take over Virgin we ended up tearing up a $250 million cheque and I don't think our view on the matter has changed very much," Mr Huttner said.
