Well honestly, what do you expect? They have a multi billion GDPR case to defend, and they're also being threatened with a class action. They're not going to indulge individual compensation requests that might prejudice the big money cases.
i would do exactly the same as BA. If there's a case for compensation, make it via a lawyer rather than an email exchange which waster everyone's time.
