Is there an official rule on the length of flight needed for a hot meal? I recently flew PDX-SAN with a 5:05 pm departure and was offered the protein plate or a cold sandwich (no salad, dessert of any kind). This seems in line with what others have reported for this route, however, when they list "dinner" as the meal on a flight with a 5 pm departure, I would think a hot meal is within reason.
totally agree...we fly SEA/LAX a lot. Our next 2 flights are listed as Dinner. Fly on Wednesday, curious to see what is actually offered. Lately, it has been salad with steak slices. A sandwich may be considered a lunch but, not sure dinner. But, perhaps the days of getting a meal in F may be numbered as airlines are looking for revenue. AS may go with what they are doing in the lounges. Offering a decent meal for a charge.
