I got 526 Avios on a £65 purchase via Avios.com back in may. With a rate of only 3Avios/£1, you might want to buy using the education discount (in the UK it is via studentbeans), which plays out way better than Avios (even with double-ups). And if you are not a student, you probably have a family member/friend who is a student.
There is also a friends/family discount if you have friends who work for Apple, which I think is slightly more generous - I've been told about 15-20% - and applies to things which the student discount doesn't (iPhones, and formerly iPads, were not included in the Student Discount programme).
