B6 tried to be an alternative option in these markets (BWI DTW etc.), not the frequency leader and/or high fare carrier.
And, WN isn't all that high fare on BWI-FLL because of NK as well, and doesn't get the comparable fee revenue. It typically always has WGA availability and fares just a week out and less are often cheaper than much shorter routes it offers like DAL-HOU and PHX-LAS.
B6 chose to drop a number of two-three hour distance markets to FLL (and BWI-MCO) where it competes against NK, where NK is an alternative to the high frequency carrier (and where enough pax are willing to endure NK for that length of a flight). With such limited frequencies, B6 wasn't going to take over the top spot in being the high fare carrier, as those are held by those hub carriers.
