The OP might well, like me now, have *G as a second program. I’ll probably fly about 10 sectors on Star this year, with 75% of my accrual on oneworld.
However, given that I don’t know what the future holds for FFPs, I keep my options open so I don’t have to start from scratch again if requalification levels happen to increase beyond my time or budget - so I understand the desire to maintain status given how much harder it is to get back.
For me, that’s why it’s sometimes more efficient to qualify without the A3 segments, and long haul with SAS is currently usually the most cost efficient way to do that, particularly with 1200 miles for Y+ on the connecting flight into a hub.
Some good options for the OP here though, I think, hopefully one of which will fit.
