Good use of Aeroflot Bonus for Asia - America travellers
Aeroflot is offering some good fares between HK and USA - I've posted some deals in the MR forum for HKG-LAX. However, going HKG-SVO-LAX is a bit extreme for a casual traveller.
The good fares are also available for HKG-JFK as well. Aeroflot offers a good fare where you can use.
If you only fly once per year, you can do the following:
1. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy classic - fare start from US$1189, and you get 27268 miles - qualified for silver (ST elite) next year.
2. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy classic - fare start from US$1189, and you get 27268 qualification miles + 4546 bonus miles - keeping the silver qualification
3. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy classic - fare start from US$1189, and you get 27268 qualification miles + 4546 bonus miles - keeping the silver qualification
After 3 years, you get 90896 miles - remember Aeroflot miles don't expire if you keep flying.
4. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy flex - fare start from US$1431, and you get 36356 qualification miles + 4546 bonus miles - keeping the silver qualification. Upgrade all 4 segments to business using 65000 miles (30000 for HKG-SVO, 35000 for SVO-JFK)
You now have 66798 miles left.
5. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy flex - fare start from US$1431, and you get 36356 qualification miles + 4546 bonus miles - keeping the silver qualification. Upgrade all 4 segments to business using 65000 miles (30000 for HKG-SVO, 35000 for SVO-JFK)
You now have 42700 miles left.
6. Fly HKG-SVO-JFK round-trip on premium economy classic - fare start from US$1189, and you get 27268 qualification miles + 4546 bonus miles - keeping the silver qualification.
You now have 74514 miles left.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 for subsequent flights. You can fly premium economy R/T and business R/T HKG-JFK starting from US$2620 afterwards as long as you can book A class inventory.
If you fly twice per year on the above, you will get gold (SkyTeam elite+) status.
IMHO, this is very generous offer on the Aeroflot bonus programme as long as you can get A class availability every time - considering the ticket price for A class is sometimes comparable to other airlines' plain economy.
