Thanks guys. Yes, I am transferring for first time and this trip came up recently. But I will plan ahead next time. But thank you for the inputs.
I also have some AMEX MR (Canada). How long does MR --> Aeroplan take? Based on AMEX site, looks like it takes less than an hour.
Here is my plan -
1) Keep waiting for Asia Miles to show up and keep looking at the 15th/16th Oct tickets (if not 15th, 16th still works).
2) If both tickets are unavailable or if 1st week of October approaches (whichever comes first), then transfer MR --> Aeroplan.
3) Book through Aeroplan.
Bad plan?
Worst case scenario will be: Asia Miles have not shown up or dates not available on Cathay. AND dates not available on Aeroplan. Then I will have to shell out cash. I can offset some since I have some credit card points.
I dont mind keeping Aeroplan. But I will have no (apparent) use for Asia Miles. (I dont live in Toronto/Vancouver. And not sure if I can transfer Asia Miles to something else).
P.S: Re: Marriot--> Asia Miles glitch. 19998 Asia Miles should not be an issue I think? I can still pay for 2 miles as I have 70%+ miles?
