The Marriott Rewards # on the cert need to match the one on the reservation, hence, you can't. The stay can be for anyone as Marriott officially allow you to use your points to book rewards stay for someone else.
Thanks for clarification. I recall dealing with smth like this a couple years back and it got resolved and i have another reservation i was going to support by so's cert. Time to call to change name on reservation...
