My experience (Hiltons, Doubltrees, HGIs, Hamptons, Marriotts, independent hotels) is that once I take the ironing board out, it stays out until I put it away.

I can't remember that last time I've taken the ironing board out and had housekeeping put it away.

Interesting. Maybe it's a US thing? I guess the Asian properties spoiled me. I still don't understand why everything else would get returned to its place except the ironing board.
