And here's a data point from a fellow Ambassador guest who was upgraded from a regular room category to a suite at the Ritz-Carlton Geneva. Considering that Ritz-Carlton was notorious for not upgrading to suites pre-Aug 18, I think it's fair to say that Ambassador status means something.

Originally booked the classic king garden view. Was upgraded a day before my stay on the Marriott App. The platinum recognition at this property was wonderful and for me the location can’t be beat if you want a great view of the lake and mountains. Service wise in my top 5 for Ritz Carlton property’s.
