This is good advice, and especially the part I added bold to. In addition, OP you seem (perhaps rightfully) frustrated and upset, I'd suggest when you write the email save it as a draft then sleep on it before sending; avoid emotion or anger in your correspondence just outline the facts and clearly describe what you want (the EQNs, a refund is just silly IMO) as a resolution.
