Just phoned Amex Germany, as my card is issued by them. They, too, said they were aware of the breach, there was no need to take any further action and any financial loss would be fully compensated. If, however, I preferred to cancel my card and get a replacement they would happily do that.
Seems they had gotten quite a lot of calls today.
