Best buy was selling the Sony a6000 for $500 vs the a6500 is 1200-1600.

Is there even any real difference when it comes to capturing photos? Both cameras do come with extra lense.
The main advantage of the newer model (A6500) is that it has sensor shift based image stabilization built in the camera and thus you have better chances to capture sharp pictures even with longer shutter speeds. Of course, you can still get similar results also with the older camera if you mount a lens with optical stabilization, but the sensor based approach is more universal. And I would think that the kit lens(es) that comes with the camera body are just a starting point as these kit lenses may have limitations in focal lengths offered and lowlight capabilities.
