I'm trying to get on one before it's too late!
Qantas currently have 6 787-9s. 4 are used for LHR-PER-MEL-LAX/SFO. The other 2 are getting used (from tomorrow) for BNE-LAX-JFK. The next 2 arrive in November, and are being used for extra BNE-LAX and AU east coast-HKG.

There has been a single weekly 747 on QF11/12 SYD-LAX, but that is going back to daily A380 with DFW dropping back down to 6 weekly. With these changes, the only 747s going to the US will be the 3 weekly BNE-LAX (until Dec), SYD-SFO and an upgrade on HNL QF3/4 to 747 (and the seasonal SYD-YVR).

By the end of the year, the only QF US mainland route to have a 747 will be QF73/74 to SFO.
After 787s 7 and 8 arrive in November, the next 6 confirmed 787s won't arrive until late 2019. Without a change to the HKG 787 flying, SYD-SFO won't change off 747 before then.
