Stayed many times at StR. every single stay was exceptional. Always upgraded to large suite. My last stay was upgraded to 5th Ave suite. I would recommend you try the StR.
I never stayed at the RC Central park. I hear and read great things about it. I will try the RC when my travels brings me to NYC.
