I did this by calling EXP line.....she downgraded me and then did the flight change and then the new upgrade came thru a couple hours later......this was earlier this year though.
this isn’t an upgrade, the fare for first in the evening was less than coach in the afternoon. But since I really want to leave in the afternoon and it’s a very short flight, I will probably cancel ( it’s within 24 hours ) and rebook in coach in the afternoon (and pay $30 more). I was hoping someone would say “it’s very likely to work”, but that seems like wishful thinking.
