In Post 1957 the Lurker writes:

Members.marriott.com states that anyone completing 75 nights after the programs are combined will be given an "Additional Choice Benefit (5 Suite Night AwardsTM or Gift Option)". Obviously, getting the 75 nights completed before the programs are merged is not going to result in an additional 5 SNA's or gift option when the programs are combined because you will have already crossed that threshold and received access to the current SPG75 level benefits.

This is not relevant to the 40 plus 40 night example because the member as mentioned in the quote has already received the SPG 50 gift and 75 benefits. Also for another example if a member has 74 SPG nights and 2 MR nights as of today and on Aug 22 combines accounts he will on that date have 76 nights crossing 75 nights in the new program for the first time and trigger the PP 75 night gift option email.
