Agreed, I'd be surprised if the situation is rectified within the next 2 years, at a minimum.
If it's feasible for you, you might want to consider the Advantage Executive World Elite card through Citi - it's $450 vs. the AC full fare membership of $550 and will also get you at least 50k miles with $5k of spend in the first 3 months.
