Yes. In addition, the NOC has an entire team focused on handling proactive rebooking. Contrary to certain reports on FT, SHARES is a perfectly capable CRS. It has its warts — they all do — but it’s not nearly as inept as some people like to suggest.

No, it’s pretty much entirely the luck of the draw. In this case, since it seems that the agent was willing to look at other carriers, it was a MOLA situation. Other people might have gotten a refusal to check other carriers at all (“Sorry, it’s due to weather.”)

Status helps, but there are still plenty of agents out there who seem to think that any accommodation of a passenger is akin to leading their company into bankruptcy.
