The determining factor is not on who's stock the ticket has been issued, nor the carrier. The FFP to which you credit the flights are responsible to get the necessary info from the carrier, in this case AA, and have a work-around and let you know the results. Whilst waiting for that, keep BPs (if possible from both cancelled and flown segments) and original itineraries for later , in case you need to contact BAEC again and send supporting info. IME, it's not unusual to have to make a second call.
