I would not stay in Chungking Mansion with a 5 year old. Too shady. The elevators were narrow and took forever. And I feel like the building doesn't respect fire codes. I ate there couple of times and I saw stairs were blocked off with locks.
There are plenty of cheap-ish hotels in HK. Or a Chase card and book with UR points.
