I suggest putting a quote into as many hotels as possible, and once you get contacted by the hotel sales person, just negotiate the rate down. I have successfully done that to get $50 1 hr bookings at plenty of hotels, typically on weekend mornings 7a-8a. Once I find a $50 place, I have milked it and have a great relationship with the rep. He will send me a contract to sign, and a day after the meeting the points and nights post. My guess is he is aware of what I am doing even though we have not explicitly talked about it. I have shown up a few times for the meeting block just because I was available.
