Likely simply that CFP will speak with the investigating agency to determine whether there is any evidence implicating either or both nieces. Other issues might include whether they live with their father or the facts suggest they knew but did nothing about it (which is in and of itself not a crime, but might make one "untrustworthy" for a program which is definitionally for he "trusted").

Scheduling another interview will not help and will most likely gum up any process, but it will reduce the federal deficit by $100 each.

These things can take a long time. People sometimes wait for months for simple database updates to be checked in order to confirm that they are not some bad guy who has a similar name.
