I'm not sure this is the best place to post this question but figured someone may know. I'll be flying LAX to MEL in a few months. I'm still unsure if I'll be booking via an AA code share or directly on the Qantas website. Regardless, I'll be booking a separate PHX to LAX ticket to first get to LAX. My question with this being international, will I need to leave security to check in for the international flight? In the past you haven't been able to check in online for international flights. Once I arrive in LAX the plan was to go directly to a lounge but I'm wondering if I'll have to leave security to get a boarding pass - or could I just be checked in at one of the lounges (AA if a code share or QF if booked on Qantas).
As an update - I will not be checking bags.
