I paid 1700 eur, I guess partly due to the booking being a bit "late" (less than 2 months before the trip) and to rollercoaster availability on the route/dates I wanted. Same trip was 100 eur less in March, but I couldn't book at the time.
I used ITA Matrix and ITA Matrix Power Tools (thanks to anyone invented them!) to book directly with AA, so no TA was used.
About the GUF, It's valid only on BA metal, and if I remember correctly is still unclear if you can apply it to itineraries including partner airlines. See the thread
