How did you find the availability for when you booked? Did you use BA / Qantas to find it then call in?
I use BA for award availability lookup, keeping in mind that BA has CX awards from 355 days out or something. And I snatched two Js by calling AS as soon as the 330 day window opens. I actually wanted JAL F but unfortunately those were gone as soon as they loaded on BA, AS never even got the chance.
