I've seen this to be the case as well. You can be a OWS (just not AAdvantage) and bring in a guest (sometimes 2, depending on the lounge!), even on domestic flights. And if you're connecting from an international J to domestic whatever, you are entitled lounge access, since the long haul determines the arrangement. Qatar Airways sometimes seems to fudge that notion a bit when it's convenient to them and because they have their "Business" and "First Class" lounges besides Mourjan and Safwa...
