Did you put a preference in your "additional comments" area when you made the online reservation? I ask there, which the night staff sees when assigning the rooms the day prior.
From there, if no love shown, ask to be checked in at the lounge upstairs instead of the downstairs lobby. Someone will escort you up the elevator and get you to the lounge, where you can ask as well.
(Not to say say you can't ask downstairs, of course.)

ps: this also gives an extra opportunity to snag some of the the watermelon juice at the lounge upon check in. They have little glass bottles of it in the refrigerators above the snack area to the left/behind the lounge check in desk.
