In the UK I don't know of any policies that would cover reticketing however in most the world insurance requires the claimant to mitigate their losses, ie make the claim as small as possible. There are policies that both give an arbitory amount per hour of delay and/or pay for abandoment if the delay is over a certain minimum (our former policy was 12 hours). Whilst not explicitly covered by the terms it wouldnt be too hard to argue that $300 for a new flight rather than the $1,000 for abandoning both flight and hotel booking is mitigation of losses and therefore would probably receive a payout.

Also, why do you need it? If for example its to meet a cruiseboat then travel insurance covering cruises does, again in the UK at least, inc costs associated with ensuring you get on your boat if the flights delayed. This normally is envisaged as an additional flight to the boats next stop but could again be a replacement original flight instead.
Thank you. Sorry, yes, for the US.

Some examples would be:
Traveling to a cruise port
Traveling to a resort destination, etc.

I'm assuming that if such a policy even exists it would have to be within X hours/days. Let's say you have to be somewhere and the particular airline you're using is having issues, so while they *can* get you to your final destination, it'll be 1 - 2 days later. But you can use a diff. airline and get there either "on time" or sooner.
