Both are extremely bland, uninteresting hotels. There is nothing in either hotel that gives you a feeling of Munich or Bavaria, you could be anywhere in the world. I honestly wouldn't care two figs about an upgrade at either one, and instead choose whichever was cheaper. There are much much better places to stay in Munich, probably for less money, than either of those two hotels (and I would throw the Westin, Sheraton, and Marriott into that bland pool as well.)
