I had the exact same experience, so I second checking that. You can always also email Aegean if you want to be absolutely sure.

For what it's worth, a data point: upgraded BRU-ATH-SKG-ATH-BRU the other day for end of year, no problem. I had confirmed award space via Aegean's website beforehand, a great tip from this thread (so thanks, random person).
