I don't think there's any real debate that DEN is the primary market where this occurs. And I see both the loyalty side and business side of the argument. My issue is with the inconsistent application; either do it in every market on every flight, or don't do it at all.
I have stopped connecting through DEN altogether or when I do, I buy up to begin with, or on short hops, just pick the exit row and save a few bucks on E class.
